SAPOL Road Safety Centre Visit

Avril attended the inaugural evening session of the SAPOL Road Safety Centre, with Nick and the team. They do great work, including providing sessions in schools.

Many present, were in the process of gaining a motorcycle licence. If you have ridden a motorcycle, you will know how vulnerable you are, and how often other motorists simply don’t see you.

Motorcyclists are over-represented in fatality and injury statistics in large part for this very reason. We can’t stress enough to learner drivers in cars to look and look again for motorcyclists.

Women Against Road Toll High Tea Fundraiser

Avril, along with Women Driving Instructors from across the state, recently attended the Get Home Safe Foundations event ‘Women Against Road Toll High Tea Fundraiser‘ (12th Nov ’23).

Speaker Genevieve Rueger (pictured right), military aviator and MFS Firefighter, works with the MFS Road Awareness Program (RAP) for high school students.

The RAP Program

The Metropolitan Fire Service Road Awareness Program (RAP) is a thought provoking road safety initiative aimed at Year 11 students and delivered to 90% of SA schools. It invokes young drivers, bike riders, cyclists and pedestrians to consider their choices and the potential consequences.

Thank you to Josh for his excellent delivery, and to Brett for his bravery in recounting the consequences of his choice and his life after road trauma.
